About Vien

Art & Education
Art and education have been my greatest passions since early childhood.
I adored my teachers growing up and loved being in school.
You'd often find me teaching private art lessons to friends during recess.
I'm proud to be a lifelong learner with a growth mindset!
My Purpose & Background
After graduating with a teaching credential from SJSU, I've worked hybrid roles as a teacher, production artist, and multimedia designer ever since.
I use art to create powerful learning experiences and spark joy in others.
Who I Am
I am a second-generation American.
My parents immigrated from Vietnam and I am the youngest of 3 sons.
I am deeply proud of who I am, where my family comes from, and the country I live in.
I love to spend most of my time with my partner and closest family.
Major Influences
Family and culture thoroughly influence who I am, how I view the world, and how I see my art.
Anime and western animation styles are equally important to my style; I like to blend and play with both when necessary.
A few of my favorite artists are Kim Jung Gi, Hayao Miyazaki, Alex Ross, and Glen Keane.
What I Find Important
My favorite works of art remind me that ordinary and mundane things are beautiful.
I strive to be an active listener and embrace diversity in any way I can. Having a fresh outlook creates new learning opportunities for you and your colleagues.
What I Enjoy Most
I find it important to be playful and expressive; my projects always reflect these qualities in one way or another.
Traveling, learning history, and experiencing culture (sumo in Japan) are some of my favorite hobbies.

Freelance Process
1. Client Inquiry & Discovery
After initial contact, I will reach out to discuss project scope, prospective timelines, and other needs, preferences, and concerns. I will onboarding as needed.
2. Contract & Payment
You will receive a contract proposal and rate. Once signed and I receive half of the full payment, the project will be scheduled and can begin.
3. Initial Delivery & Feedback
I will send progress updates and project files will be made available for feedback. Communication lines will stay open and revision request will be open.
4. Final Delivery & Follow-Up
You will receive final project outputs and files. We will confirm, debrief, and celebrate.
